Also in 2002, she has been named Woman of the Year by Châtelaine magazine. She has been twice the host of a special TV show about Québec's cinema, called Le cinéma se raconte and Chansons du 7 e art. This proves how she has earned her place in Québec's movie industry. In 2003, she makes her international debut with the role of Lisette in Head in the Clouds, by Australian director John Duigan. She is acting with world known stars Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz. In winter 2004, she is nominated as Best actress at the Genie Awards, Canada, for her leading role in Seraphin, Heart of Stone and she was given the lead part in the movie Sans Elle by director Jean Beaudin. In 2005, experienced TV film producer and screenplay writer Fabienne Larouche offers her a lead role in her new longed-for television serial, Un homme mort, a lead role specially made for her. During Fall 2005, she’s working on 2 major TV projects, including the coveted title role in the docu-comedy Marie-Antoinette, a France-Québec co-production, co-directed by Yves Simoneau and Francis Leclerc, as well as playing a lead role in the Canadian TV serial October, 1970 , in English.
In 2006, she has been awarded the prestigious Femme de mérite Award from the Fondation Y des femmes de Montréal, and has also been selected among the 101 leading women in Québec by the magazine Entreprendre, along with world-known singer Celine Dion, Governor General of Canada Michaëlle Jean, film maker Denise Robert, and many other personalities. In Spring 2006, this talented actress gets another important part in the feature film Ma fille, mon ange, sharing the feature with Michel Côté, one of Québec’s most experienced actors. Another leading role for Karine Vanasse follows: the main woman character in an important TV co-production between Québec and the USA, entitled Killer Wave, and which is a mini-series directed by Bruce McDonald.
Wishing to get involved and to contribute more and more in the many different steps of the making of a movie, and with an intense desire to become familiar with each and every aspect of film making, Karine Vanasse goes into partnership as a co-producer with prestigious production company REMSTAR , in order to build a movie project, which is specially close to her heart, about the tragic event of the École Polytechnique, in Montréal, in 1989.
